to develop a communications and consultation campaign that fulfilled the requirements of several Acts of Parliament that ordinary folk could engage with and understand.
Fresh Ideas. A full on communications and consultation programme that made the district plan relevant to ordinary people in their own lives. It was based around traditional issues but from a fresh perspective and it never mentioned the Resource Management Act once. Its primary focus was about what people could do on their land as opposed to the perception that a district plan is all about what you can't do.
Two awards and a programme that has engaged many different sectors of the community. Fresh Ideas won the SOLGM communications forum award for the best campaign and also came second overall in the NZ Post management excellence awards in 2008 - winning the community relations section.
