Waipaoa Station Farm Cadet Training Trust

Since things got serious about the idea to run a farm cadet scheme at Waipaoa Station, we’ve been right there beside them.

Our first job was to organise a sponsorship document to help secure funding to get the scheme up and running. With the funding secured, facilities ready to go and the first intake of five cadets all set to go the next task was to tell everyone about it – the Waipaoa newsletter was born.

Our design brief was simple. Make it fun and keep it rural. Feedback from the rural community says we achieved just that, with a logo that presents the life a Waipaoa farm cadet desires and design material that attracts young rural people.

The Waipaoa newsletter is sent to friends, key stakeholders and the rural community every three months. It is an engaging account of what cadets have been doing and what’s coming up. A website is also up and running and educational material has been developed for the recruiting drive.

More recently we designed group and individual awards for the cadets’ annual prizegiving, which received great feedback from staff, friends of the trust and more importantly the cadets.

Over the past two years we have helped raise close to $50,000 for the trust by running a Calcutta event on Melbourne Cup day. As well as being great exposure for the trust it’s also a great opportunity for the cadets to socialise with supporters of the scheme.
